MadCap Software Increases Q1 2013 Revenues By 34% Year-Over-Year

MadCap Soars With Double-Digit Profitability and Growing Global Demand for MadCap's State-of-the-Art Technical Communications and Translation Software

La Jolla, CA, — USA May 2, 2013 — MadCap Software, Inc., the leader in multi-channel content authoring and a showcase company for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Visual Studio and Microsoft XPS, today announced that revenues for Q1 2013 have grown 34% over Q1 2012, continuing the profitability that the company has enjoyed since launching its flagship product Flare in 2006. In tune with its strong growth, MadCap has experienced a 178% increase in net profit on a bookings basis over the same period ending 2012. At the same time, MadCap continues to invest in resources, expanding headcount in this first quarter by 13%, with the number of employees expected to grow an additional 10% by the end of 2013.

Driving MadCap’s financial gains has been the rapidly growing global demand for MadCap’s native XML state-of-the-art suite of technical communications and translation software—with hundreds of new customers added each month. Recent customer showcases include Blackbaud, a leader in technology solutions and services for nonprofits, raising over $100 billion each year for 27,000-plus clients in 60 countries; Mitchell International, Inc., a major provider of property and casualty claims technology solutions that processes over 50 million transactions annually for 300-plus insurance companies and 30,000-plus collision repair facilities across North America; ARCOM, the leader in specifications for the construction industry; and Ektron, a key player in Web content management and digital experience management software serving over 12,000 public-facing websites. “Our strong financial performance and growth this past quarter are a direct result of two factors. First is the launch of MadCap Flare 9.0 and MadCap Pulse, the new server-based plugin to Flare that brings social media capabilities to online documentation. Second is the superior service and support that continues to foster customer loyalty and passion about our solutions,” said Taunya Conte, MadCap CFO. “This exciting growth highlights our vision and dedication to providing our customers with a best-in-class experience, cutting-edge software, and superior support worldwide.”

MadCap Product Innovation Across the Globe

For more than seven years, MadCap has delivered industry firsts in technical communications and translation software to address the demands of enterprises and governments worldwide to create technical documentation and publish it to multiple channels, such as print, desktops, mobile devices and the Web—in their languages of choice. In particular, four solutions have led the global demand for MadCap’s software:

  • MadCap Flare, MadCap’s single-source, multichannel publishing tool, is the industry’s leading technical authoring application for publishing online Help, knowledge bases, policy and procedure manuals, user guides, and other forms of content. Only MadCap Flare lets authors create a single project and then directly publish it in multiple formats optimized for the Web, mobile devices, desktops, and print publishing—without the need for any additional tools. The recently launched Flare 9.0 in combination with MadCap Pulse empowers published online documentation with the same functionality found with many popular social media sites. With version 9.0, Flare also is the only authoring and publishing solution that supports both native authoring and publishing of western languages and right-to-left languages, such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian, in a single solution.
  • MadCap Contributor lets subject-matter experts and managers easily edit, review and contribute content to Flare projects without learning the advanced features of Flare. No other leading technical communications vendor provides a comparable tool.
  • MadCap Lingo is the only translation management software that eliminates the need for file transfers in order to complete translation, preserving valuable content and formatting to deliver a consistent experience across multiple languages.
  • MadPak is the industry’s most comprehensive authoring suite, featuring integrated, XML-based products for complete end-to-end technical communication. It includes MadCap Flare; MadCap Contributor; MadCap Lingo; MadCap Analyzer for analyzing Flare-based content; Mimic for publishing software simulation movies, video and audio; and MadCap Capture for image capture and graphics editing.
