University of Alabama in Huntsville Partners with MadCap Software to Teach Students Best Practices in Modern Technical Writing and Prepare Them for Lifelong Careers in Technical Communications

La Jolla, CA and Huntsville, AL October 3, 2013 — University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is joining forces with MadCap Software to ensure that students pursuing its Graduate Certificate in Technical Communication have clear competitive advantages when entering the workforce. Through the MadCap Scholar licensing program, the university is using MadCap’s modern future-proof authoring and multi-channel publishing products—supporting print, Web, desktop and mobile—to provide students with the most advanced authoring and publishing solution available today. By using MadCap products, students are gaining expertise in the modern techniques and software used by thousands of companies worldwide when they enter the corporate world.

The UAH English Department offers a Technical Communication graduate program that is dedicated to educating students on modern technical writing best practices. UAH will teach its students the technical use of MadCap Flare along with broader concepts on developing online Help, such as single-source publishing to multiple formats, in its “Theory and Practice of Technical Communications" course. Additionally, UAH plans to introduce a new undergraduate course in Fall 2014 that will focus on the discipline of technical communications, which will take advantage of Flare for developing effective online Help.

I really appreciate MadCap recognizing our program and helping us to become a great resource for students to prepare themselves for a lifelong career in technical communications. It's exciting to get this recognition from a company that is so integral to the technical communications market.

Ryan Weber | Assistant Professor and Director of Business and Technical Writing, The University of Alabama in Huntsville

“We are thrilled to work with UAH in helping students reach new levels in developing their technical communication skills. We are looking forward to having these students successfully generate dynamic online Help using Flare’s intuitive, state-of-the-art approach to topic-based authoring,” says Anthony Olivier, MadCap founder and CEO. “Our partnership with UAH is another example of how our MadCap Scholar program is dedicated to sharing the wealth of practical knowledge from the extensive global MadCap user community and empowering students to strengthen their technical writing best practices to ensure sustainable lifelong careers.”
