At first glance, MadCap Flare projects may seem very different from DITA—but there are many underlying parallels. Flare variables map to DITA keys, conditions align with filtering attributes, and while HTML is more flexible than DITA XML, both share core structural elements such as headings, lists, tables, and images.
These similarities make it possible to perform an initial conversion from Flare to DITA that results in valid, structured content—ready to be refined and adapted to your target content model and imported into the IXIA CCMS.
In this session, we’ll walk through a live conversion of a Flare project to DITA using the Flare extension. We’ll review the output, highlight common clean-up tasks, and share practical ways to restructure your Flare content ahead of time to improve conversion quality and reduce post-processing effort.
Finally, we’ll import the converted content into IXIA CCMS and review the result, giving you a clear picture of what to expect when making the transition.

She currently focuses on the CCMS documentation and advises the development team. Leigh is also the author of DITA For Print: A DITA Open Toolkit Workbook and a contributor to The Language of Content Strategy and The Language of Technical Communication. A conference veteran, Leigh has spoken on XML, DITA, AI, and content management systems at many conferences over the years, including MadWorld, CCMSLink, DITA North America/ConVEx, DITA Europe, Intelligent Content, Lavacon, the STC Summit, and Writers UA.
