Unlike the new Fall TV schedule (how many new sitcoms do we really need?!?), MadCap Software’s webinar lineup is worth checking out:

Because people are unlikely to read every word on a page, we’ve made it easy to scan for the information they want. Using the Flare drop-down feature, the HTML5 Web and Mobile versions of our documentation are folded in an accordion fashion, so that people can navigate information more rapidly. Also, expert users can speed through a procedure, while intermediate or beginning users can open up embedded images and diagrams to verify that they are on the right path, and close them to focus on the steps they need to accomplish their tasks. You’ll learn this and other ways to help readers get the answers that they want as fast as possible.
Presenter: Mark Metcalfe, Documentation Director at Ektron, Inc.

We’ll review what steps can be completed to ensure that the integrity of your Flare project was maintained through-out the localization process. Some concept examples that we’ll cover are how text formatting is handled, links validation, character encoding and other issues that may arise in the localization process.
Presenter: Scott Bass, Jennifer Schudel and Jose Sermeno, MadTranslations/MadCap Software

A QR Code is a square filled with small, randomly placed black boxes that resemble a maze gone mad. Often the code contains a URL that someone wants you to visit, but instead of typing the URL, you snap a photo of the QR Code (using a special app) and the URL or video then displays on your screen. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don’t. Some are so slow to respond that you give up before you get where you thought you wanted to go. Why?
This presentation will show you the good, the bad and the ugly of QR Codes:
- When to snap them and when to avoid them
- What to expect from them
- How to create your own and make them pretty
- Practical every day and business uses for them
- Why some marketing via QR Code works and others don’t
- The anatomy and error rate/forgiveness of a QR Code
- How NOT to have a boring square QR Code
We will also make a QR Code in Flare and add it to a snippet and then make one in a free online application and alter its color and appearance. Join me for a fun and exciting venture into the world of QR Codes!
Presenter: Pam Coca, Documentation Manager, Compressus
