The University of Strasbourg Partners with MadCap Software to Equip Students with the Skills Needed to Succeed in the Technical Communication and Localization Industry

San Diego, CA and Strasbourg, Alsace, France – June 22, 2020 – The University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) located in Strasbourg, France partners with MadCap Software to equip students with the knowledge and competencies necessary to succeed in the technical communication and localization industries.

The Master’s in Technical Communication and Localization (TCLoc) from UNISTRA combines an accredited master’s degree with the internationally recognized Technical Communicator (tekom) — Professional Level certificate from one of its partners, tekom Europe. The TCLoc program delivers its courses exclusively online and in English, offering a variety of practical content relevant to today’s technical communication and translation sectors. While providing the flexibility and accessibility of distance-learning for its courses, the TCLoc master’s program focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry. Its courses are taught by leading experts and industry professionals who share their firsthand knowledge and experience as well as provide training on a range of tools used in the field.

The MadCap Scholar Program provides our students with licenses and training to gain hands-on experience with the latest tools and technology: MadCap Flare, MadCap Capture and MadCap Lingo. These cutting-edge technical communication and translation solutions are both intuitive and efficient for content authoring and publishing in a variety of formats.

Dr. Renate De La Paix | Program Director, University of Strasbourg

In the TCLoc master’s program, students receive intensive training in technical communication with the help of a wide range of tools used by technical writers, translators, and project managers. Dr. Renate de la Paix says, “With access to MadCap Software products, our students will be able to gain valuable experience in the end-to-end processes involved in the creation of content, preparation of files for translation, effective use of leveraging legacy content, project management, publishing multiple types of deliverables, and more.” In addition, “having experience with these well-known and widely used tools is a great asset as it further prepares them for work in the industry and adds value to their professional profiles.

They also plan to use MadCap Lingo and Flare for their CAWEB master's degree, a program that combines web technologies and communication with localization. The CAWEB program started in 2002 and they currently have 40 graduates per year. CAWEB courses are currently offered in French at the University of Strasbourg and they are in the final stages of also developing an online English version of the program.

“We’re beyond excited to join forces with UNISTRA in giving students hands-on experience in applying modern content development and localization approaches using our cutting-edge software,” said Anthony Olivier, MadCap founder and CEO. “Through our MadCap Scholar Program, we are providing students from all over the globe the tools that will help build their skill sets and give them a competitive advantage as they enter the workforce and establish their careers.”
