Micro Content: A MadCap Flare Case Study

Many in the technical communication industry believe that micro content is the next big thing. Count Paul Stoecklein, Director of Documentation at MadCap Software, among them. Micro content is truly wonderful for allowing end users to extract just that right morsel of useful information from your mountain of documentation quickly and easily. However, like most “next big things,” there is often a point in the process where idealism and theory crash into the cold, hard reality of a really big, complex project. In this session, Paul moves beyond the basics of creating micro content in Flare to demonstrate some of the advanced techniques he used to integrate micro content into Flare’s online Help system. Through features such as complex selectors, snippet conditions, responsive content, and more, learn how Paul was able to maximize content reuse and adhere to micro content best practices. Paul will also touch on other possible uses for micro content and what the future might hold Flare users who want to incorporate it into their own documentation.
