The University of Rennes 2 Partners with MadCap Software to Enhance the Employability of Students Pursuing Careers in Technical Writing and Translation
La Jolla, CA, USA and Rennes, France – March 04, 2019 – The University of Rennes 2 is partnering with MadCap Software to help students gain the professional skills they need to succeed as translation, localization and technical writing professionals. As a participant in the MadCap Scholar Program, the university will provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with MadCap Flare, the most advanced technical authoring and publishing solution on the market.
The Center for Translator-localizers, Terminologists, and Technical Writers (CFTTR) at the university has become a leading training center for translation and technical writing professions since it was created in 1980 to provide multidisciplinary educational programs that meet the needs of the professional world.
To support CFTTR’s master’s degree program, the university is integrating MadCap Flare into Technical Communication and Content Strategy. MadCap Flare will be presented as an alternative to XML-based Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) authoring solutions, suitable for small and large-scale deployment. Using MadCap Flare, students will gain first-hand experience in applying authoring and publishing best practices. These include creating and reusing content, using variables and snippets, and editing page layouts and cascading style sheets (CSS) for online and print-based outputs, among others.
We aim to introduce students to a range of technical authoring, multi-format publishing, and content management solutions. As state-of-the-art software that is widely used by companies, MadCap Flare is an important addition to our program. With the MadCap Scholar Program and MadCap Flare, we will be able to enhance our students’ employability by equipping them with the modern linguistic and technical skills that today’s businesses demand.
