With Salesforce Connect, you can:

  • Publish content directly into Salesforce: With Salesforce Connect, authors can now take the content in Flare and publish directly to Salesforce Knowledge. In MadCap Flare 2017 r2, we extended the capabilities of the publishing destination feature, giving you the option to publish Clean XHTML outputs directly to Salesforce as Articles.
  • Reduce time spent on authoring: For authors looking to add their help files to Salesforce Knowledge, the lack of a robust authoring platform in Salesforce makes it challenging to create or import structured content. With Salesforce Connect, authors can save hours of work manually copying and pasting content from Flare into Salesforce.
  • Control the look and feel of content: No need to manually reformat content in Salesforce every time a change is made. Update your content from Flare and let the plugin do the work of importing and maintaining your style for you.

Trial Users

  1. In your Salesforce account, make sure you turn on Knowledge. You need to create an article type that includes a rich text field. For more information, please refer to the Salesforce documentation.

    After completing the necessary tasks in Salesforce, you are ready to integrate it within a Flare project.

  2. When installing Flare, choose Custom as the type of installation, and click Next.
  3. On the next page of the wizard, select Salesforce Connect.
  4. Create your publishing destination using the following steps, and complete the Salesforce Connect fields.

Existing Users

To use the Salesforce Connect as an existing user, follow these steps:

  1. From the Windows Control Panel, look for Programs, and click “Uninstall a Program”. Don’t worry! You won’t actually have to uninstall.
  2. Find MadCap Flare on the list, and then click Uninstall/Change. You can also right-click and select that option too.
  3. The MadCap installer will appear, then select Modify.
  4. Check the box next to Salesforce Connect and complete the wizard.
