Down In the Weeds – Working With Topics in Code in MadCap Flare
Webinar Summary
Presented By:
Have you ever had to make a standard change to dozens of topics, perhaps to hundreds or thousands? You can work in one topic at a time in Flare WYSIWYG XML editor – a safe way to work since it keeps you out of the code, but also slow, tedious, and inefficient. Working directly in the code offers greater speed, consistency, and efficiency – if you’re careful and know what you’re doing. In this session, we’ll look at three aspects of working in code. First, we’ll look at best practices for saving and backing up your work. Second, we’ll look at what HTML, XML, and XHTML skills and knowledge you need (Depending on what you need to do, that can be surprisingly less than you expect.) Finally, we’ll look at the mechanics of using Flare itself to work by search and replace and even auto-correct many problems. You’ll leave this session with an understanding of when and how to work in code and a sense of how it can accelerate your work.
