Anthony Olivier
Chief Executive Officer
Prior to MadCap Software, Anthony Olivier served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of
Macromedia with responsibility for driving the company and product line strategies across its Help,
eLearning and multi-media products.
Prior to becoming a member of the macromedia senior management team, Olivier served as Chief
Executive Officer for eHelp Corporation, the creators of RoboHelp, and worldwide leading provider of user
assistance and simulation software. After successfully growing the company into a high growth, highly
profitable multi-product company, Olivier successfully sold eHelp to Macromedia, thereby providing
liquidity to founders, employees, and returns in excess of 270% to investors.
Prior to eHelp, Olivier held a variety of senior management positions in finance and operations including
Chief Financial Officer for Spider Technologies (formerly Digital Lighthouse), and Controller for Corbis
Corporation, the Bill Gates owned, digital graphics and stock photography company.
Mr. Olivier is a licensed CPA with the CA State Board of Accountancy.
Bjorn Backlund
Chief Technology Officer
Bjorn Backlund is currently in charge of design and development of the MadCap suite of products.
Before joining MadCap, Backlund served as R&D Manager at Macromedia with responsibility for research
and design of next generation authoring tools.
Prior to joining Macromedia, Backlund was responsible for designing and developing software products
for eHelp a worldwide leading provider of user assistance and simulation software. Backlund was the
original architect and developer of the driving engine and HTML editor behind the award winning
RoboHelp products.
Prior to eHelp, Backlund founded and operated Xanthus, a market leading software development
and publishing company for the NeXT platform. Backlund successfully negotiated the deal and sold the
Xanthus product line to Lighthouse Design, now a division of Sun Microsystems.
Preceding Xanthus, Backlund performed research in visual programming and computer languages at
SICS, the Swedish Institute of Computer Science. Mr. Backlund has more than 20 years of object-oriented
development experience; he has designed and developed word processors, spreadsheets, web browsers,
text editors, business graphics tools, multimedia-authoring tools, scripting languages and
dynamic object linking technologies.
Mr. Backlund holds a Licentiate of Science from University of Stockholm and a Master of Science from Uppsala University.
Michael Hamilton
VP, Product Management
Prior to joining MadCap Software, Mike Hamilton served as the Product Manager for Macromedia's award-winning
RoboHelp product line. As product manager of RoboHelp for most of its life, Michael Hamilton gathered input
and feedback from the customer community and guided ongoing development of the various RoboHelp products.
Hamilton joined the RoboHelp family in 1999 as a founding member of the Training Solutions Program team, where
he co-authored the certified training materials supporting the RoboHelp family.
Hamilton has over ten years of experience in training, technical communication, multimedia development,
and software development at several organizations including Cymer, a leading supplier of laser illumination sources to the semiconductor industry,
National Steel & Shipbuilding and the US Navy.
Hamilton is often a featured speaker at industry events, including the WinWriters Online Help Conferences 2000, 2001,
2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006, STC Annual 2001, 2002, 2003, Forum 2000 London, the 3rd and 5th Annual Australasian Online
Documentation Conferences, the European Online Documentation Conferences 2002/2003 and many more events including
appearances at the Microsoft Campus and STC (the Society for Technical Communication) regional conferences and events.
Hamilton is also frequently quoted in technology articles in various trade publications.
