MadCap Analyzer
Reporting and Suggestions Help You Analyze and Fix Your Projects
No one likes surprises — especially when deadlines are looming. MadCap Analyzer allows technical writers and documentation specialists to work smarter, maximize content re-use and consistency, improve authoring efficiency and reduce translation costs.
MadCap Analyzer scans your Flare or Blaze project for:
- Issues — Broken links, duplicate styles in style sheets, duplicate TOC and outline items, and topics not in selected TOC or outline
- Used and Unused items — Snippets, topics, styles, variables, map IDs, images, and more
- Suggestions — Snippets, variables, index keywords, new styles, and writing structure
How It Works
With a few easy steps, MadCap Analyzer can fix your projects and get you back to work.
- Open Your Flare or Blaze Project — Analyzer scans your project for issues and problems.
- Locate the Critical Issues — Critical issues in your project are listed on the Basic tab. Double-click to view and correct these issues.
- Review Suggestions and Accept Changes — Suggestions help you optimize your project. Analyzer may suggest you add index keywords.

NEW in MadCap Analyzer V3
File Tagging
Now generate reports using the new File Tagging feature in Flare and Blaze. Project development is now easier to track, manage, and schedule. Analyzer allows you to perform the following tasks when it comes to file tags:
- View and fix undefined tags
- View and rename used file tags
- View unused file tags
- Edit file tag sets
Link Viewer
The new Link Viewer window pane in Analyzer gives you greater insight into how your project files are linked, dependencies between projects, output targets per project, etc.
Improved UI for Inserting Links
A new dialogue box in the UI for inserting links makes the process easier and quicker. The modifications can be seen when inserting cross-references, hyperlinks and images. You can also specify certain settings (e. g. , size, position, borders, margins) when inserting images, a process that was previously done after the image was inserted.
Source Control—Merging Files
Merge changes automatically when two or more people are editing the same project file concurrently. The merge occurs automatically if there are no conflicting changes (i.e., changes do not occur in the same location). If there are conflicting changes, a dialog opens, allowing you to determine how the changes are merged.
