If you have purchased Flare and have a license key:

Use your license key to activate Flare. Until activated, Flare runs in trial mode.

Updating from Flare 1.0:

If you have previously activated Flare 1.x, your activation will be automatically transferred. You will not need to activate again.

If you are evaluating Flare:

Flare runs in trial mode. The trial is limited to a 30-day evaluation period and cannot
be used for production work.

Note: While in trial mode, Flare will mark its outputs with random characters.

Upon purchase and activation of Flare, the limitations are removed and the projects created during the evaluation period may be published for production use.

Download .NET

Step 1. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

(Approximately 22MB)

The .NET Framework from Microsoft must be installed prior to installing MadCap Flare.

This step is not required if you are running Windows Vista.

Windows 2000 users ONLY

Because later versions of the .NET Framework are not compatible with Windows 2000, you must download and install Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework.

Step 2. Download and install MadCap Flare v1.1.2

(Approximately 94.4MB)

Flare Sneak Peek or any Flare Beta versions should be uninstalled prior to installing this new version.

Step 3. Download and install MadCap Flare stand-alone viewer for DotNet Help 1.0

(Approximately 2MB)

This help viewer is not necessary for generating or using Microsoft HTML Help files, WebHelp files, or Printed Documentation. However, you do need it to distribute our DotNet Help format which is designed for use with Windows applications and modern security concerns in mind.

Developers may also download the Help Viewer SDK to connect DotNet Help to your application.
