Track 310:15 - 11:10

Using MadCap Central for Team and Project Management

Take your MadCap Flare project and team management to the next level with MadCap Central. Chad Kreiger, Senior Technical Writer at Vernier Software & Technology, will demonstrate key features in MadCap Central that will help you assign team and user tasks, track project statuses, manage and publish builds, and much more! Chad recently taught a Flare-based college course and he will demonstrate how he integrated MadCap Central into the classroom to assign and manage student Flare projects, create project checklists (and templates for replicating checklists), and utilize cloud-based editing. Many technical writers find they are using numerous tools and spreadsheets to track and manage project statuses. Separate tools are often used for source control and publishing, too. With MadCap Central these tasks can be managed from one place! Whether you have a large team or are a lone writer, learn how MadCap Central can streamline your workflows and make peer reviews and publishing easier.

Tuesday

Track 41:30 - 2:30

Effectively Migrating Content from Word to MadCap Flare

Migrating your Word content to MadCap Flare just got easier! Chad Kreiger, Senior Technical Writer, will demonstrate new Word Import enhancements including the new file drag and drop feature and the ability to import standard list types. Having imported hundreds of Word files to Flare, he will offer numerous tips and tricks he’s learned along the way. Learn how to easily maintain continuity between your Word files and your Flare project by mapping paragraph and character styles to associated stylesheets. Time-saving strategies that can simplify the import process and reduce post-import formatting in Flare will be shared. Moving Word files to Flare adds versatility to your content as you can easily create web-based outputs with documentation that was originally limited to print-based publishing. Advanced techniques will include using macros in both Word and Flare, find and replace tools, and CSS tips and tricks.
