Module 2: Adding Content, Linking Content

Our second module will cover adding content to MadCap Flare. We’ll break out into groups and cover different types of content you can import, such as Word, FrameMaker® and HTML files. Topics, Table of Contents (TOCs) and link types will also be covered as we dive into key concepts such as topic-based authoring.

Enhancing HTML5 Responsive Layout and Design

CSS provides numerous options for positioning elements. In this session, we will discuss the pros and cons of using responsive layouts, float, grid, and flex in MadCap Flare. During the session, Scott will share real-world examples of using each approach and share best practices for using them. Attendees will receive a sample project that contains examples they can reuse in their own projects.

Dynamic User Assistance in MadCap Flare

Users often have very different goals, needs, and preferences based on accessibility, their preferred language, their experience level and/or job role, and the version of the product they use. In this session, we will discuss how to allow users to adapt designs, how to detect a user's goals/needs and auto-adapt content, and how to save user settings and preferences. Scott will share numerous real-world examples and code samples attendees can use in their own projects.

Learn best practices and real-world examples for responsive web design (RWD) and responsive web content (RWC). During this workshop, Scott will discuss and explore options for adapting text, lists, tables, and images for smaller screens, including using built-in Flare features such as responsive layouts. In addition, he'll discuss how you can single source and dynamically adapt content for use on phones, tablets, PCs, and even print targets.
