Track 23:00 - 3:55

Using MadCap Central for SME Reviews and Contributions

At Nestlé, MadCap Central is used for prototyping new features and designs, and as the primary hub for review and contribution by Subject Matter Experts. In this session, Homer Christensen of PEACE team solutions and Patrick Fueldner of Nestlé discuss their experiences and the processes developed to reduce the turn-around time to get a finished topic published. Learn how the cloud authoring experience has simplified the round-trip process of SME authoring of content, incorporation into the project, and review and approval, letting them leave annotations for requests and instructions beyond the simple text editor, anywhere at any time.

Tuesday

Track 49:30 - 10:30

Transitions and Transforms: Animation Basics

Animation is a great way to improve the user experience of your site. Not only does animation provide visual interest and movement that intrigues, it can also focus attention on aspects or bits of information that you want to emphasize. In this session, Homer Christensen covers the difference between transitions (such as fluidly opening drop-down content) and transforms (such as scaling an image on hover), and discusses intermediate concepts like keyframe animation. He’ll cover animation best practices, provide samples, and leave you confident and inspired to inject some liveliness to your site right away.

Wednesday

Advanced Training 14:00 - 5:30

Snariables: Reusable Components using Snippets and Variables

When you’re tasked with creating a set of tiles, cards, or other repeating elements that must be consistent, stylish, and quick to produce and edit, snippets with variables are the perfect tools to use. You define the structure of the element with a snippet, and each time you add it, you can set variables to specify the content, link, CSS classes, images, and other visual definitions. You can use the snippet several times on a page and each appears unique. In this session, you’ll learn how to identify elements that work well with Snariables, and we’ll cover the basics and best practices (as well as what to look out for) of creating the snippet and setting up the variable definitions. You’ll leave with samples you can incorporate right away, including a product tile, team member card, and a detail page made entirely with snippets and variables.
