Yep, we’re doing it again. MadWorld returns to the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego April 13-15, 2014 and you’re invited to join the “Mad”ness! MadWorld 2014 is the premier technical communication and content strategy conference for technical writers, documentation managers and content strategists.
At MadWorld 2014, you’ll be treated to inspiring educational sessions, fun events, and all the networking you can handle.
We’ve put together a stellar cast of speakers just itching to share their knowledge with you, so let’s get to know one of them, shall we?
With over 10 years of experience in the software industry, Jose Sermeno brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the product evangelist team, helping introduce new users to everything MadCap Software. In his spare time, Jose works as an organizer for SDMMF, is a mentor for San Diego City Robotics – the San Diego community college systems robotics program, and enjoys working in software design and open source hardware development. Prior to joining MadCap in late 2010, Jose ran a Drupal development shop, and was an application manager for Temple University Health System.
So what was your favorite part of MadWorld 2013?
Meeting such a variety of TechComm professionals from around the World. Having been to many conferences, the people make up a huge part of the experience, and everyone at MadWorld was there to explore new ideas, share their experiences, and have a great time.
What Makes MadWorld different from other industry conferences?
The focus by MadCap on not just what is being presented, but also on the overall attendee experience. Showcasing fundamental concepts, complex workflows, and technical implementation isn’t easy and often boring – not at MadWorld.
Tell us a little bit about your MadWorld 2014 sessions.
- MadCap Flare 10: Whats New Overview – this one will be a pretty straight forward overview of new Flare 10 features/workflows.
- Single Sourcing for a Global Audience – In this session we’ll discuss best practices for localization of single-sourced content using the MadPak Suite.
- Ask the Experts: Writing for Translation – This is a panel discussion session I’m hosting with some great and intelligent industry experts sharing their experiences.
- Ride the Lightning (talk) – In this high-energy lightning talk session, I’ll be one of the many speakers sharing various MadCap and TechComm experiences.
This is what I’ve signed up for so far. As a Product Evangelist for MadCap Software I’ll be trying to showcase the tools separate from Flare in the MadPak. As the creators of the only toolchain designed for single-sourcing and localization of content, multimedia, and images – there are great advantages to be had using them together.
Excluding your sessions, which MadWorld sessions do you find the most intriguing?
Advanced customization overviews. I enjoy seeing what users do with the outputs generated from Flare, and its always exciting to see something implemented that we never even thought of as a possible outcome.
What cool stuff (besides MadWorld, of course!) should MadWorld attendees do while they’re in San Diego?
Torrey Pines Glider Port, Balboa Park, Sunset Cliffs, drink great local beer, eat lots of Burritos (Don Carlos!).
MadWorld 2014 is at the Hard Rock Hotel, so we have to ask you a music question. What are your 3 favorite songs in the whole, wide world?
1. Talking Heads – Home
2. The Clash – Clampdown
3. Depeche Mode – Everything Counts
