MadCap Flare Basic/Intermediate Training Course

3-day On-site / 4-day Web-based Training

Audience

This course was designed for new Flare users, but it includes numerous tips, advanced techniques, and challenge exercises for experienced users.

Course Overview

This course uses a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice to introduce the major features of Flare. By the end of the course, you will have the skills you need to develop online and print targets such as help systems, knowledge bases, and user guides.

During this hands-on course, a Certified Flare Instructor will cover basic and intermediate skills, including:

  • Creating a new project
  • Importing content (including existing RoboHelp projects)
  • Creating and editing topics
  • Working with images and video
  • Creating navigation, including links, table of contents, and index
  • Managing styles, skins, and other appearance features
  • Efficient single-sourcing, including variables and conditional tags
  • Publishing content to web and print

Single Source Training

MadCap Flare Single Sourcing Training Course

1-day On-site / 2-day Web-based Training

Audience

This course was designed for new and experienced Flare users who are interested in reusing content and generating multiple targets from the same content. It includes overview and introductory information for students who are new to single-sourcing and advanced tips and best practices for students who have experience with single-sourcing.

Course Overview

This course uses a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions to introduce single-sourcing concepts and techniques. By the end of the course, you will have the skills you need to single source content using Flare.

During this hands-on course, a Certified Flare Instructor will cover:

  • Importing and re-importing documents
  • TOCs and outlines
  • Document design: master pages, headers, and footers, page layout
  • Stylesheets: master stylesheets, page breaks, medium types, auto-numbering
  • Creating and formatting cross-references, TOC, glossary, and index types
  • Condition tags
  • Variables and snippets
  • Building, using, and publishing targets
  • Master projects: adding, creating, reusing, and linking of master projects

CSS Training

Flare CSS Training Course

1-day On-site / 2-day Web-based Training

Audience

This course was designed for new and experienced Flare users who are interested in creating and modifying styles. It includes overview and introductory information for students who are new to CSS and advanced challenges for students who have experience developing stylesheets.

Course Overview

This course uses a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions to introduce the most useful CSS properties, from the most commonly used to the obscure and powerful “hidden” properties. By the end of the course, you will have the skills you need to develop a stylesheet.

During this hands-on course, a Certified Flare Instructor will cover:

  • CSS overview
  • Creating, importing, and modifying stylesheets
  • Text styles
  • List styles
  • Link and dynamic content styles
  • Table styles
  • Print styles
  • Testing styles

Consulting Services

Consulting services are also provided on a project basis by MadSkills, Inc.
