Leveraging the powerful authoring features of Flare and Blaze, MadCap Software provides a document solution for the everyday content contributor that combines both editing and publishing into a single document solution.
Now casual content contributors, SMEs and managers can seamlessly provide content to the technical authors using defined guidelines. Technical authors ensure consistency and avoid the hassle of converting content from Word or other formats. In addition, everyone can review content without needing to manage edits in PDFs.
For MadCap Flare and Blaze Authors:
- Create X-Edit templates in Flare or Blaze for subject matter experts and contributors
- Maintain project text styles, table styles, conditions, variables, and images
- Prevent potential loss of content by locking text, such as headings
For Subject Matter Experts and Managers:
- Add content to Flare or Blaze projects using X-Edit
- Edit and review existing content using X-Edit Review
- Submit content directly into projects without technical writing knowledge or experience
NEW in MadCap X-Edit V2
File Tagging:
You can now assign "tags" to files that you are reviewing in X-Edit, exactly like the File Tagging feature in MadCap Flare and Blaze.
Improved Multimedia Support
In addition to Flash (.swf file format), you can now insert the following video and audio files into X-Edit documents:
Windows Media files:
.asf, .asx, .au, .avi, .mid, .midi, .mp3, .mp4, .mpa, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .wav, .wax, .wm, .wma, .wmv, .wmx
QuickTime files:
.mov, .qt
Review Packages — Multiple Topics:
Authors now have the ability to send multiple topics for review from Flare or Blaze. Therefore, a new Review Packages window pane lists the topics received from an author. The Review Packages window pane opens automatically when you open a review file.
Thumbnail Images — Show/Hide:
Save space by specifying which pictures in your document should be displayed as a thumbnail.
